The Yellow Wood Violets are very abundant along the woodland trails surrounding the Darrington area. Their deep green leaves and and cheerful yellow flowers are welcome heralder of springtime and many time the plants will literally carpet large sections along woodland trails and stream ways.  The plants can reach heights of up 12 inches, each bright yellow flower is born atop an erect stem.  The flower has five petals, maroon veins streak from the three lower petals to the throat of the flower.  The bright green heart shaped leaves are finely thoothed.  You will find them blooming around March through June and up to September in higher elevations.
